Cornell’s Erik Gibson will be seeking a new home, perhaps in a familiar place?
The highly touted recruit (who, like most Big Red beginners, enrolled at Finger Lakes CC to greyshirt this season while training at Spartan RTC) posted an impressive high school career over just 3 seasons in Pennsylvania, finishing 90-11 with a pair of PIAA state medals at Forest Hills & Bishop McCort.
Gibson - simply put - is looking to be closer to home …and there is one place on the map that stands out in particular. Even more questions could now arise, as younger brother Mason Gibson (one of the nation’s top 126 lbers) is officially committed to Cornell at the moment.
The Kyle Dake effect may be in full swing- throw in David Taylor’s M2 connection and it seems like there’s only one destination worth departing Ithaca for. But only time will tell where Erik (and maybe Mason?) ends up. Nonetheless, whatever program gains his, or dare I say their, commitment will be getting the full package, that’s for sure.
