18-Year-Old Amit Elor has made history.
The California product dominated her way to wresting’s elusive triple crown. So elusive, it’s never been done before- by anyone, anywhere.
A 72KG junior world championship, u23 world championship and senior world championship- all in a calendar year’s work. 2022 was very kind to Elor, but her tenacity towards opponent’s on the mat was anything but. She tech-falled her way through each and every final. Did I mention she also edged Kyle Snyder to become the youngest American to ever win a senior world title? In short, if the rest of earth didn’t know the name Amit Elor before 2022, they sure know it now.
Her historic achievement can’t be overstated- but for Elor, the best is yet to come. Women’s wrestling in the United States has burst onto the scene- drawing excitement and expansion in the process. Several pioneers have come before her, helping pave the way. But it’s safe to say Elor has the power to take women’s wrestling to even greater heights- and under the tutelage of coach/mentor Valentin Kalika in New York City- the sky(line) is the limit.
