One of the nation’s top Heavyweights has made his much anticipated college decision.
2x New Jersey State Champion & 2021 Cadet World Silver Medalist (110kg) Jimmy Mullen has committed to wrestle and also play division 1 football at Virginia Tech.
Along with his many accolades on the mat, the 3-star defensive end has had a stand-out career for St. Joe’s (Montvale) on the gridiron. At 6’2’’ & 250 lbs, he is the type of athlete that coaches in both sports dream of. That dream has now become a reality for Tony Robie and Brent Pry, who worked together to sort out the details and gain Mullen’s commitment.
The larger than life prospect joins an already deep wrestling class of 2023 for the Hokies, which includes a pair of PIAA State Champions in Mac Church (Waynesburg) & Sonny Sasso (Nazareth). It’s clear this program is surging in the right direction, and after beating out a couple B1G competitors (Penn State, Michigan & Rutgers) for this mammoth addition- they have got to be feeling good down in Blacksburg.
Get ready ACC, Big Jim is coming!
